Now you can buy and download songs/CDs/MP3's of your favorite Bill Bass CDs and songs.When I moved to beautiful St. Croix, US Virgin Islands in 1962, I had no idea that playing steel pans (or steel drums, as sometimes referred to) would become a part of my career. Through the auspices of the St. Croix Council on the Arts, I was hired as an instructor to direct and teach the Central High School Steel Pan Band. The band became so popular, it won the Ambassador's Award for spectacular performance at the Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, California and was then invited to perform in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York later that year. The year was 1973, and I was honored to
receive special recognition from then Governor of the US Virgin
Islands, Melvin H. Evans, for a job well done. Since that time I have enjoyed a colorful solo career. I've played for guests at every major hotel on the island, performed at many romantic sunset weddings, and entertained visiting dignitaries and cruise ship passengers for the Department of Tourism. I have played all over the world – including Japan, Denmark and Norway, as well as throughout the U.S. mainland and the Caribbean. No matter where I am, the sounds from the 55-gallon oil drums transform into some of the most soothing music I've ever experienced and will always remind me of my home on St. Kitts and my adopted home on St. Croix.
